Goldendoodle Service Dog, “PB” & Richard’s Story
At the age of 21 I was involved in a very bad ski accident which left me in a leg cast for almost a year. They told me then that when I got into my golden years the effects of that accident would plague me. When I started experiencing problem, my wife was in the process of training 2 Goldendoodles which had been donated to become service dogs. We got them at 7 weeks & training started that day. By the time they were 4 months old PB had shown promise in becoming a big dog, which could support me now that my leg was giving out. So I requested she become my dog. The other little girl went to a great home at 6 months & is doing well. She has taught her human what it means to have a Service dog.
After partnering up with PB my life changed.
While my wife was out of town I had a Heart Attack. PB was there to help. She got my truck keys & shoes & off to the hospital we went (I drove.) (She hadn’t gotten her drivers license yet, she’s only 2), in route I called my wife to inform her what was happening. PB stayed with me through out my hospital ordeal.
All is back to normal now. With PB’s help I have been able to stress less & enjoy life more. She helps me in so many other ways, too numerous to list here!
I look up & see GOD!
I look down & see my DOG!
Simple spelling GOD
Same word backward DOG!
In my human fragility,
I can't match their love for me!

My Service Dog
"She is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. She is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. She has told me a thousand times over that I am her reason for being; by the way she rests against my leg; by the way she thumps her tail at my smallest smile, her devotion to assist me when I need her help. If I am wrong, she is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, she clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, she is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, she ignores it. When I succeed, she brags. Without her, I am only another human. With her, I am all-powerful. she is loyalty itself. She has taught me the meaning of devotion. With her, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. She has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. Her head on my knee can heal my human hurts. Her presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. She has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need her. And I expect I will - as I always have. She is my dog." -- Adapted from Gene Hill’s poem.
